Inspiration

Well I came across the concept the other day in a book. Go figure. Sadly these days it’s a lost art. All my research is confined to the internet. Or it was until my husband broke his laptop, now we’re sharing.

Anyway, I’m writing a novel called Dandelions and the figure of Badb appeared within the working of it. Nothing new there, a lot of my characters worm their way into my books of their own accord. Anyway, for some reason she decided to appear in the form of a wolf, something, given her fey nature, I thought was inherently odd.

Idiosyncrasies aside I later found out, though said book above, that Badb has been associated from time to time with wolves. So all is not lost.

Resolution

Back in December, I made it my New Years Resolution to write daily and in January I cemented that goal by deciding to write a minimum of 500 words each day.

Well, despite my good intentions I dropped the ball sometime in June due to the craziness that came with readying Solstice for print. I was still writing, just not the much needed 500 words.

I am however 39k shy of my January goal of 182,500 words over the course of 2013.

Pretty cool, huh?

Blogging

Oops! 10 days since my last update, probably not a terribly good sign of blogging commitment. Unfortunately not much is new on the writing front, but it is plodding along and I have written a whopping 131,000 words since January, so I’m rather happy with myself when it comes to that.

This really says it all.

Love this 🙂

Writing is, in and of itself, a process. It takes some sweat, a little blood, a copious amount of either booze or coffee, and a whole metric shit ton of determination. With anything, there’s gonna be some times where putting your head and slogging through the rough patches is nigh impossible. Sadly enough, that’s just what you have to do. You have to put your head down, soldier up, and carry on my wayward son.

With that in mind. Motivation helps, so I found this. It works.

The Eldritch Series

So, The Winter Princess and Queen-in-Waiting are back up on Smashwords. Still free and will remain so, until I can find beta readers to nit pick and then start on draft #2. The third book, Sovereign is still being written, and at this stage, I do not know whether or not it will be complete come the 24th of July deadline. I apologize in advance, but this is one novel that’s proving a little tricky to write. I know the beginning and the ending but the middle is just not coming together as I would like.

Short Stories

There’s nothing like leaving the fine tuning of a short story to the last minute. Okay, so I’ve been working on these short stories for a few months. One is complete, the other is almost there and the third was complete before I started editing, I just need to fix a few minor errors, which I suppose I could leave to the editor. Yep, think I’ll leave that to the editor.

Time Flies

Wow! Okay, it’s been a bit of a busy month trying to ready Solstice for print. Let’s just say that wasn’t quite as easy as I initially thought it would be. Granted, I was able to get it finished before my self-imposed deadline and Solstice is now available for purchase, both in print and kindle versions.

Camp NaNoWriMo, NaNoWrimo and All Things Related

Well, I’m going to stick to writing my novel, Umbria for NaNoWriMo and use Camp NaNoWriMo in July to write Arcadia, which is the sequel novel to The Eldritch Series.

Meanwhile I’m getting stuck back into Sovereign and am determined to finish Even Angels Fall, and my two short stories, Exiled and Life or Death before July 1st.

Meanwhile there are going to be several surprises at the end of Sovereign which is the whole reason for Arcadia in the first place.

The Zooey Novels

Just updated the BOOKS section to include the blurb for Sovereign which is the third book in The Eldritch Series. And, if people don’t care too much about the following:

  1. They are first drafts
  2. I edited them myself
  3. They are currently available for free

I’ll put them back up on Smashwords.com.

I have made one decision regarding these novels though, I’m going to hand them off to a few beta readers and see what comes of it. I know one thing, every time I sit down to edit The Winter Princess I find things deviating just a little too much.
